Дόброе ўтро (Dōbre ūtrō) which is good morning in Russian.
I got up this morning and one of the first thoughts I had was that the blessing we say over our food is not for God, but it's for us. From a small child, my mother asked us to memorize a prayer to say at mealtime. I think if someone started it off for me, I could finish it even today. Right now its not coming to mind. I thought then that it was something God really wanted us to do and acknowledge Him in doing so.
Monosodium glutamate, according to a 700Club show I saw, promotes free radicals, which I believe leave us open to getting cancers. Sugars will feed cancer. Studies one day may say a certain food is good for you, and not long after you hear about another study that says that exact same food is NOT good for you. It's enough to drive you up the wall, just trying to eat healthy to any degree. We need God to bless our food before we eat it so that our bodies get the most benefit.
I said the blessing at our mid-day meal and before I thought about it I was saying: "Lord we thank you for this food and be - - - merciful to us and bless it to our bodies." I think I still had that thought in my mind that the blessing is for our own benefit. lol
And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. Exodus 23:25
